Nietzsche/Dionysus/Bacchae - Nietzsche believed that the development of art was caught in the relationship between the Greek deities: Apollo and Dionysus. Dionysus inspired art through intoxication. These ideas are explained further, humans are terrorized by phenomena (Schopenhauer), where they cannot reason anymore (middle of pg. 36 is the explanation). Dionysus adds ecstasy to this terror, and this ecstasy arises from nature. And lastly, that we break down the individual and unify him/her with nature, animals, and all humans. This inspires in humans, song and dance, a celebration. But it also threatens their being. The human forgets there self. “But even seeks to destroy the individual and redeem him by a mystical feeling of oneness.” (38)
I really want to do a lot with blog. Obviously, I want to bring people the music I love and am listening to. But I have a lot of trouble deciding how to bring it to you (i.e. what format). Images, links to the artist’s website, Youtube videos, quotes, whatever. Those are all well and good but people want to have music that is “theirs”. What I mean by this is that people want links to Mediafire, Megaupload, and so on. And yet, we all want to support the artist (I hope). So as I ponder what do with this blog/Tumblr/whatever, would you be so kind as to send me some ideas… Your preferences. Thanks!
